Academic Highlights

Andrew Lang grew up in Lydd, England, in a quiet little coastal town of about 10,000 people. He attended college at the University of Kent, where he met Kelly, a University of Tulsa student who was taking a year to study abroad. The rest is history. The couple married and moved back to Tulsa where all four of their children have been born and where Kelly's parents still live. He hasn't been back to England in seven years.

Andrew has taught at ORU since 1998 and has often been honored for teaching and academic excellence, including being recognized as Scholar of the Year, Outstanding Honors Program Faculty and Department Faculty Member of the Year. Since he is also an avid science fiction fan, he co-teaches a course about the "science" portion of "science fiction."

Dr. Lang is thoroughly impressed with the quality of students who attend ORU. "As a graduate student, I taught at a state university. I find the students are better at ORU. At state schools you get all kinds of students. Here students are more genuine and focused because they believe in a mission and hold a Christian worldview," he commented.

A frequent publisher in scientific journals, Dr. Lang is currently collaborating with professors around the world on the Open Notebook Science Solubility Challenge. That work along with the thrills of family life including coaching his son's soccer team and watching his two young daughters perform ballet make his life full and overflowing.
